- Spreading: Southwest India, north of Bombay southward to Kerala
- Habitat: evergreen forests and mountain forests between 450 m and 1600 m height
- Way of life: usually in small groups of 4 to 5 birds, occasionally also in small swarms
- Nutrition: seed, fruits (figs), small nuts, berries, sheet buds, blooms, pollen, nektar
